TWiT New Year's Event - RSVP Now

Once again, TWiT will welcome the New Year in each and every time zone around the globe, starting at 3AM on Wednesday, December 31, 2014 and finishing at 3AM on Thursday, January 1, 2015.

Leo Laporte will be hosting this 24-hour extravaganza, and we will have many of our hosts with us in-studio, along with special guests, entertainment, and other surprises.

This year's event will also be a charity telethon to raise money for UNICEF. (We'll have more details on this, including charity auction details and a donation link, in the coming weeks).

We'll be streaming the entire event live http://live.twit.tv/ - but here are two additional ways you can participate:
  • If you can make it to the TWiT Brick House in Petaluma, we’d love for you to be a part of our studio audience. Please RSVP by email to tickets@twit.tv  and be sure to include your time of arrival and a rough idea of how long you intend to stay.
  • If you'd like to be one of our correspondents and help countdown to the New Year in your time zone via Skype, please fill out this form.
Stay tuned for more details, and we hope you'll join us to welcome in 2015.

Coding 101 Update

A big thank you to everyone for their support of Coding 101, because without our fans it would not exist. A show about programming has always been a part of our vision for TWiT, and starting this week we are making changes to the format of the show.

Instead of focusing on teaching code and jumping from one language to the next, we will be interviewing developers/programmers/coders and taking a deeper dive into their work. We plan to cover everything from coding to programming philosophy and plan to integrate more projects on the show.

With this shift in focus, Shannon Morse is leaving Coding 101, but she is not leaving our network. I am happy to announce that Shannon will be returning as a contributor to Before You Buy with weekly product reviews. While I know that Shannon is very busy with her work outside our network, we are looking forward to keeping her presence on TWiT.

Stay tuned as we continue to improve our existing shows and announce new ones!

Next week, Leo and I will be traveling to Austin, Texas, where we are meeting with the team at Four Kitchens to work on TWiT’s website redesign for 2015.

We’re also having a meetup on Thursday, October 23, from 7pm to 9pm.

Here are the location details:

We will be meeting in the lounge, near the bar inside the hotel lobby, and the team from Four Kitchens will be joining us as well. Of course, all ages are welcome.

If you’re in the area, we'd love to meet you!

Changes at TWiT

As we head into October, there will be a few changes on TWiT.

Starting next week, OMGcraft will be leaving our network. Chad “OMGchad” Johnson will continue his show independently, and new episodes will be posted on the OMGcraft YouTube channel.

We are also retiring The Social Hour. Originally called net@night, it is one of our longest-running netcasts, starting when “social media” was still in its infancy. As the landscape has matured and trends have shifted towards apps, we feel that social media coverage is now a part of almost every show on our network.

For similar reasons, redditUP will also be going on hiatus. It may return in a revamped form at some point.

Chad will continue to co-host The Giz Wiz, and you’ll still see him at the Tricaster throughout the week. Sarah Lane will continue to host Tech News 2Night and iFive for the iPhone, in addition to co-hosting iPad Today. You can keep up with Amber MacArthur’s latest projects by following @ambermac on Twitter.

Marketing Mavericks will be moving to Thursdays at 12 noon, starting on October 2.

As always, we appreciate your support as we go through these changes.  Leo and I continuously strive to make TWiT the best it can be and we couldn’t do it without you.
