2016 Programming Changes

As we head into the new year and start the process of building our new studio, we will be making a few changes to our programming schedule.

Starting January 4, 2016, Know How is expanding to two episodes per week! One episode will be recorded offline and released on Mondays at 3PM, and the other episode will record live on Thursdays at 11AM. Monday’s Know How will be dedicated to lighter builds, tech reviews, and solutions for common tech problems, while Thursday’s show will focus on more involved projects and maker segments.

With the expansion of Know How, the show will also include coding tricks and projects, and we are canceling Coding 101 with its last episode to release on December 21, 2015. Father Robert Ballecer’s co-host Louis Maresca will still make regular appearances on Know How and This Week in Enterprise Tech, and we are excited that he will be staying on our network.

With Megan Morrone and Jason Howell taking over Tech News Today, we have decided that it’s time to merge our two daily news shows. With this merger our single daily news show will be called Tech News Today recording at 4PM each weekday, starting on January 4, 2016.

With the evolution of iPad Today into iOS Today, we are going to fold the content covered in iFive for the iPhone into this show. We will release the final episode of iFive for the iPhone today (December 16, 2015).

Before You Buy will also release its last episode on December 18, 2015. After careful consideration we have decided to fold marquee product reviews into The New Screen Savers and review relevant products on shows like MacBreak Weekly, Windows Weekly, All About Android, iOS Today, etc. To follow all of our reviews on YouTube, be sure to subscribe to the TWiT YouTube Channel and "save" TWiT Product Reviews & Picks to your playlists.

Lastly, we are increasing our presence at marquee tech events, conferences, and shows for 2016. We will be covering CES in Las Vegas (January 6-9); Developerweek in San Francisco (February 12-18); Mobile World Congress (February 22-25); SXSW (March 11-15); and more to be announced in 2016!

Coding 101 Update

A big thank you to everyone for their support of Coding 101, because without our fans it would not exist. A show about programming has always been a part of our vision for TWiT, and starting this week we are making changes to the format of the show.

Instead of focusing on teaching code and jumping from one language to the next, we will be interviewing developers/programmers/coders and taking a deeper dive into their work. We plan to cover everything from coding to programming philosophy and plan to integrate more projects on the show.

With this shift in focus, Shannon Morse is leaving Coding 101, but she is not leaving our network. I am happy to announce that Shannon will be returning as a contributor to Before You Buy with weekly product reviews. While I know that Shannon is very busy with her work outside our network, we are looking forward to keeping her presence on TWiT.

Stay tuned as we continue to improve our existing shows and announce new ones!

Coding 101

Coding 101Hello world!

We are proud to present TWiT’s latest show, Coding 101! Father Robert Ballecer and I are serious geeks, and we developed this show for anyone who has an interest in programming and code.

Computer programming can be a scary topic for some, so Father Robert and I will be breaking down that wall to introduce you to everything involved in coding. Together, we will demonstrate several coding techniques, concepts, and real life use-case scenarios. We will also delve into a variety of programming languages, from the most basic of lessons to more advanced techniques. And each week we will be joined by a guest expert to show you how to use programming to your advantage.

Want to learn more? You can find links to subscribe and check out the first episode here.

End of line.

Changes at TWiT, Part 3

We are disappointed to announce that Iyaz Akhtar has chosen to leave our network, but we are thrilled to continue Know How… with Father Robert Ballecer.

Father Robert has already booked a series of guest experts for Know How… beginning with the January 2nd episode, and we will continue to grow our “help and how-to” content on TWiT.

Because Father Robert is taking over Know How… while also launching our new programming show, Coding 101, Leo has decided to continue hosting Before You Buy on Tuesdays.

Stay tuned: Tech News Today re-launches on January 2nd with Mike Elgan and Sarah Lane, as well as additional contributors and guests; Coding 101 starts on January 9th with Father Robert Ballecer and Shannon Morse; and Tech News 2Night will debut on January 13th with Mike Elgan, Sarah Lane, Father Robert Ballecer, Jason Howell, and Shannon Morse.

Thank you all for your continued support, and we hope you'll enjoy what we have in store for you in 2014!

And don’t forget our 24-Hour Live New Year’s Eve broadcast, beginning at 4AM Pacific on Tuesday, December 31st. You can watch and listen live at http://live.twit.tv/
